Canadian Gordon Webster, pianist and lindy hopper is one of the favourite musicians in the current Lindy Hop scene worldwide.
Gordon started playing piano at age 4. In 2001, he discovered Lindy Hop in Toronto and got obsessed with.
He started traveling in the scene both as a musician and as a dancer. In 2004 he moved to New York City where he graduated in 2006 at Manhattan School of Music.
Gordon is coming to Switzerland! Next weekend he will be performing with his septet Gordon Webster 7, featuring Naomi Uyama, at Leapin› Lindy in Bern.
Incidentally, DJ Chrisbe will be spinning on Saturday night before, between and after the band :-). I'm sure Gordon will rock the house and inspire the local Lindy crowd!
Now let's have a look at the Song of the Week. It's a nice interpretation of Bei Mir Bist Du Schoen. The solos of the wind section are great and I especially like Jesse Selengut's smoky and blue voice!
The song – like the full album – was recorded in front of a lindy crowd and you can feel the energy in the music. Get this album!
